From November 26-28, 2019, we as the Research Center Railways hosted the International Railway Symposium Aachen for the second time after the successful start two years ago. This time the conference took place at the Eurogress Congress Centre, where the keynotes and the three parallel sessions were held.
We are pleased that many participants found their way to Aachen. With around 250 participants from 15 countries, the second edition of the conference has become even bigger and more international. We hope that you enjoyed the symposium as much as we did and that you were able to hold exciting discussions.
As already described in the opening remarks by Dr. Hendrik Schulte, State Secretary in the NRW Transport Ministry, the challenges and opportunities that the current political environment offers rail transport can only be mastered with the cooperation of politics, science and industry, and the cooperation of operations, infrastructure, vehicle and drive technology. We initiated the symposium to promote this collaboration and to give it a stage.
We would like to thank all speakers, participants, sponsors and helpers for the very successful conference and are already looking forward to the third
IRSA in November 2021.
